Walk on a Sunny Day

We picked up the Shu's today and headed out for a walk on the seawall. It was foggy when we left their place but once we had some brunch on Denman it cleared up and was sunny.
What a smile!

Abi and Lucy. Abi and Dave were telling us that in Halifax there was a coffee shop just for parents and tots - a place where it was okay if kids screamed or cried and you could sit and have your latte! We need one of those in Vancouver! Anyone want to start their own business?

On the way home in the sun.

A close up of that stylin' outfit. We dubbed this Katie's aviator look. We couldn't really convince her that it looked trendy but luckily she was too tired to fight for style.

Kaityn Walking

Katie has started to actually pick up her feet and move them - not always in a straight line, but it is a start!

Sunny Day

Katie and I decided to go for a walk around Trout Lake today because of the sun. Katie resisted her sun glasses, but didn't mind mine! In the end I managed to get her to wear hers, but her head really isn't big enough yet!

Kaitlyn finally has a sippy cup she can operate!

Ben Babysits!

Mom and Dad went out for dinner tonight. Ben came over to babysit Katie. Thanks for dropping him off, taking him home and hanging around while he worked Andrea!
Ben shows Katie how to work the play table.
Ben bathes Katie.
We would not hesitate to have this responsible young man back to babysit - if his Mom doesn't mind hanging around again.

Eating Adventures

Mom asks, "Is this a good idea???"

Not bad.

Library Time and Playdate

Library time is back on now. We went today and met up with some friends there. We all went back to Ryan's house for a playdate.

Ryan, Haruka, and Katie check out Ryan's toys.

Ryan and Katie share a love for chewing on little people.

3.5 month old Adam checks out the Bumbo and watches the big kids.

And Then We Were Alone

The other Mommies left on Friday morning bright (well, dark and soggy) and early. We spent Friday by ourselves and Daddy came and joined us late Friday night.
Where did everyone go????

Oh, thank goodness Daddy came to get us.

What a beautiful day for a walk to Fiddler's Cove.

Would you trust your kid with this guy?

Mommy's Retreat

We went to Saturna for a few days! It was Andrea and Ben (20 months), Abi and Lucy (3 months) and Katie and I. It was wonderful to have company all day and evening. It was great for the kids to have company and new surroundings too. We enjoyed being able to walk out the door and be in a peaceful setting without having to travel to meet each other first. We're already trying to schedule our next retreat!

All the kids were great on the ferry - but no napping occurred.

We got the living room set up for the kids.

Our walk on the 2nd day.

Andrea and Ben.

Abi and Lucy.

Ben and Katie.

Katie and I were "flying" over Ben and he kept asking for more.

The kids sit for a bit to watch some Raffi. Mommy's have lunch!

3rd day's walk.
Ben explores the beach. We are going to have to get one of these "muddy buddy" suits.
Kaitlyn isn't so sure about this - the seat is cold and there is a warm fire at home.
Katie thought the walk was a lot better when she got to walk too!

Mom's Birthday Party

Ready for a party! Let's go.

Family shot at the party.

Katie and Ben get ready for bed. They were actually having a blast in the bath with all the people to entertain.

Thanks for hosting the party Pearl and the cake Andrea and the wonderful gift girls!!!

Sunny Day

Sun in the living room! I forgot what that looked like!

It's still snowy though so we have to layer up to go outside - Katie doesn't approve.

Play Date with Ben

We had Ben and Andrea over for lunch and some playing today! Ben and Katie played well together, or rather Ben played well and Katie stood at her table and was very excited about everything that Ben did! Ben tested out a few toys that are meant for someone a little older than Katie and we are excited to report that both the toys were big hits. Andrea had her camera along and got the following excellent pictures for me.

Such a happy little girl! I will have to get this one printed out.

Katie at her table (her happy place).

Ben shows Katie how to use her toys.

Lunch begins innocently enough.
Lunch ends.

More Birthday Pictures

See we were all there!
Ben enjoyed the sleigh ride as much as Katie enjoyed the walk.

My Birthday

For my birthday we traditionally head out into the snow with some friends. This year we headed to Grouse for some fun in the snow.

Katie enjoys our walk!

As requested by Ryan. Katie is started on training for her future as a Dosman!

Okay, I have a few more pictures taken by Andrea that I will post tomorrow.

8 Months

Katie is now 8 months old! She is getting so big - now around 16.5 lbs, I'll have to measure her height soon. She is now eating most vegetables and fruits in pureed form and is working on bits of ripe fruit. She has started eating yogurt mixed with fruit and toast and has developed a love for rice cakes! She still isn't moving - not even commando crawling - but she has determined that sitting is boring and now becomes stiff as a board if you try to get her to sit, she only wants to stand. I know I'll have to child proof soon, I guess I'm just in denial that she will ever be THAT big.
First rice cake - big hit!

Grandma and Grandpa came for a visit - here's Grandpa working the rust out!

A Few Videos

Mad Face!

She's jumping high now!

Such a good clapper.

She wouldn't clap here, but it was such a cute video I had to share.
