Play Date in Welshpool

Penny, Hannah, Connor, Sarah, Sam, Geoff, Kaitlyn and I decided to have a day at a castle. Unfortunately we discovered after driving to Chirk Castle past Owestry that castles are closed on Tuesday. Luckily Powis Castle in Welshpool still has it's grounds open.

Penny and Sarah waiting for the toddlers to catch up.

Katie and I waiting for the toddlers to catch up.

Powis Castle.

Picnic lunch on the grounds.

Defending our lunch from the peacocks and ducks.

There are deer on the grounds.

I loved this wall beside the car park.

Kaitlyn had a great time!

Leaving Wales

Our last day in Criccieth! Bye bye castle view.

On our way to Shrewsbury we stopped at a castle ruin. Katie really likes walking just holding onto one hand now - it leaves a hand free to collect rocks.
This is just on the side of the road above a farmers field.
The castle's name.
Look at all the rocks Katie
View from the top.
Sheep in the ruins.
In Betws-y-Coed - Kaitlyn is ready to be finished travelling now!

A Day Exploring

We set out in the car for a day by ourselves of exploring the surrounding landscape. We were aiming for Aberdaron.
A hill to stretch our legs on.
Kaitlyn is starting to enjoy walking by herself now, she's up to about 10 steps and she doesn't have to be tricked anymore!
There's nothing happier than Katie on a pile of rocks.
At the beach in Aberdaron.

Katie walking! (Grandparents have many more photos of this - I'll try to get some)

Walking in Wales

A walk without Katie. Donna and Stan with the castle in the background.

Stan in the lead.

In Canada when we hike we look out for bears, in Wales you look out for .... sheep

And more sheep

And still more sheep

And sometimes cows.

Can you see the castle again?

It wasn't all farmers fields, some of it was on beautiful back lanes, just watch out for tractors!

Does it look like Katie suffered in our absence?
Nope!

A Train Trip

We went on the small scale railway from Porth Madog with Penny, Connor and Hannah.

Ever wonder what it would be like to be enclosed in a small space for over an hour with a 2.5 year old??

It's not so bad.
Penny has Connor under control.

Finding food during our stop in Blaenau Ffestiniog, Hannah didn't want to be in the buggy. Are we cruel for taking photos??

We're in Wales!

We've made it to the "cottage" in Criccieth. Nice view.

First order of business is to hit the beach!

Aunt Penny and Connor join us.

As do Uncle Neil and Hannah.

Then some dinner. Nice to have company.

Play time in the playpen with the cousins. Katie enjoys their company.

Then a bath and bed for busy little kids!

Trip to England

Kaitlyn enjoys the kid play areas in the airport on the way to England.

Katie enjoyed undoing Mom and Dad's seatbelts so much we finally buckled her into her own seat for a bit of play time.

We've arrived and are making our way to Wales! Nice little valley we stretched our legs in on the way.

Ford Focus' are quite the nice family cars in England.
