Weekend in Kelowna

Mommy had a girls wine weekend so Kaitlyn and Daddy headed to Granny and Papa's house.

They can't leave without me if I'm in here. Especially since I have the drum sticks!

Katie got a huge kick out of the cantelope. She was pouring the juice from one spoon to the other before drinking it.

She has a funny new smile.

Up at the Kettle Valley Railway.

More breakfast shots.

Out for a walk around home.

Katie et al checked out a winery as well.

But just the garden.

Katie's Vacation

Katie stayed the weekend with Grandma, Grandpa and Aunty. She had a great vacation from Mom and Dad - and was thoroughly spoiled.

Another of Aunty's special hairdos.

What Kaitlyn's hair looks like the morning after Aunty's special hairdos.
"Yes please" - or some jumping and grunting - for strawberries.

Kaitlyn's new "thing" is saying bye while waving. She does it while you are leaving, but also any other time she needs to fill a silence.

Kaitlyn's new PINK ball. A hit.

Kaitlyn checks out the crowd at Riverside Park. Hope they don't think they're going to get a turn on MY toy.
Kaitlyn drives the boat.

You still pointing that thing at me??

A Weekend Vacation

Geoff and I had a weekend getaway. It's been 2 years since we've been camping and so we decided that while Katie visited Grandma and Grandpa we would check out Wells Gray Park. If you've never been there, you really should check it out! (I mean, ummm, the bugs were terrible)

The canyon from Spahats Falls leading to the Clearwater River.

Me in front of Spahats Falls (this is the first of many wheel chair accessible water falls in the park)

Helmken Falls, second longest falls in Canada, also wheel chair accessible - we had to do the tourist things too!
A lovely evening and a little bit away from where the bus tours were getting to.

We rented a canoe and hit Clearwater Lake on Saturday. We kept trying to figure out where everyone else was.

The only action shot of the weekend! Still no one in site. And glassy calm water.

Our campsite for the night - yes sandy beach, cut firewood, fire ring (by the campsite), picnic table, extremely bear-safe food cache, and a clean outhouse. For backcountry this was luxury!

Still trying to figure out where everyone else is.

Mount Garnet in the background - Geoff has set his sights on that.

Back at camp for dinner - our camp stove broke so we are cooking over the fire!

A wonderful calm morning on the lake.

On the way out. Another gorgeous campground on the lake. We did see about 3 motor boats and 6 canoes on Sunday.

But, it's a big lake.

Talking

Katie has been talking up a storm lately! She has been talking for a while now, but she's into parroting us when we talk to her now and will repeat words that we use in sentances. It's quite amazing what she will try to say. She also seems to be stringing 2 words together sometimes, such as "Daddy car" in the morning when she wants to go to daycare. I think she said "duck arm" this morning pointing to the wing on her rubber ducky, but it could be a fluke because she has never said arm before that I know of. She does know the body parts eye, nose, mouth, teeth, feet, and toes and says some of them. She says teeth repeatedly when we are brushing our teeth and she wants her tooth brush. It's amazing to see how rapidly she is picking up words!
